FAQ on School Holiday Program
School Holiday programs are specially designed activities that provide children and young people with disabilities a fun, engaging, and supportive environment during school holidays. These programs aim to enhance social skills, foster friendships, and support personal development through various exciting activities, ranging from arts and crafts to outdoor adventures.
The cost of the School Holiday program varies depending on the activities offered. While the program itself may be funded through your NDIS plan, covering the support and care provided, additional costs such as admission fees, activity costs, and transportation may not be covered and will need to be paid out-of-pocket. It’s important to clarify this before enrolling.
A typical day in the School Holiday program is filled with diverse activities tailored to the participants’ interests and abilities. The day usually starts with a group welcome, followed by a mix of indoor and outdoor activities, such as arts and crafts, sports, games, and excursions. The day concludes with reflection and group discussions to encourage social interaction and personal growth.
The number of participants attending each session varies depending on the program’s capacity and the specific activity. Generally, sessions are designed for small to medium-sized groups to ensure each participant receives adequate support and to promote a more inclusive and engaging experience.
The School Holiday programs typically run during the official school holiday periods. The exact days and times may vary, but most programs offer sessions from Monday to Friday, usually starting around 9:30 AM and ending in the mid-afternoon. Specific schedules can be confirmed with us.
Holiday Options typically cater to children and young people aged between 8 to 18 years old. Some programs may have specific age brackets to ensure activities are age-appropriate and enjoyable for all participants. It’s best to check with us to confirm the age groups for specific programs.
The School Holiday program offers numerous benefits, including the development of social skills, increased confidence, and the opportunity to build friendships in a supportive environment. Participants can enjoy a variety of fun and educational activities that cater to their interests and abilities, all while being supported by trained Disability Support Workers.
